The rocks are off limits on the lake side. You could go down to Lavonia south and fish from the parking lot there. I'd stay away from the rocks.
Friggin terrorists.
The Garland power plant hasn't been running awhile now. I suspect they are doing repairs.
A little birdie told me that Wind surf bay park might be a good spot to bank fish. |

| You are not allowed to walk on the road of the dam of Lavon period. You can fish below the dam but dont let those park rangers catch you on the dam road or they will throw your but in the dam jail or write you a ticket. Get a tube or small boat and try it that way. |

| THe power plant on Ray Hubbard is working fine as far as I know. I was over there the second week of December and one stack was putting out steam but the water was not generating. It is a very good place to catch hybrids when they are discharging hot water |

THe only places I have been able to find shad as of last week or tow is @ the Bass Pro Shop docks. Also, you can find them around the marina's early in the mornings under the lights otherwise they are out deep somewhere and are almost impossiable to catch. I have found that the only reason to have shad is ? When you cant catch em on your slabs or jigs. Now if your driftin for Big Ole Blues then I prefer live perch or cut carp or some other kind of cut bait. These next couple of months are THE TIMES of year to catch your big fish, at least that is how it works out for me. If you can find those hybrids stacked up then you are more likely to stumble across a BIG-UN. I have gotten really close to the state record Hybrid 2 different times the 18lb 2oz was in the mid 80's with the other one this past summer going close to the same. I had rather get one big bite than catch a 100 small ones.
REMEMBER: we loose lots of fisherman this time of year. THey dont find water in their lungs after they wash up on shore the next morning they die from hypothermia. Be careful out there Big Cat Dave we'll catch you later.

| Morris....thanks for the info.......Also, what is a good bait for the hybrids and if one should catch a record fish, where do we take them to be weighed and get the recognition for such a catch? |

Oneof my favorite lures to catch hybrids is a green slab with red eyes. Dont confuse green with chartreuse, there is a difference. Also I like about a 3" perch carolina rig drifting over humps and creek channels. If you catch a big fish you can take it over to the Bass Pro Shops in Garland. They have certified scales. A friend of mine Marc Jones has the state record fresh water eel. He weighed it at the Brookshires in Wylie. Be sure to always measure girth, length, and height and take a picture with something to use as a refrence for how big it is, such as a bucket or something.
Fish Hook, I will be at the Bass Pro Shop in Garland on January 11 between 6 and 8 doing a tank demo @ 7. If you can make it by there I would like to meet you in person |
