| My buddy and i caught 5 large crappie and the water temp was about 61. We were fishing about 5-6 foot of water. I found a good place to try as soon as the weather warms up a bit. Shoud be a good producer when the weather warms back up a bit. North of the dam and south of I-30. |

| Here is the rest of the story ! Friday morning around 9:00 am i went from harbor bay marina in rockwall to the other side of heath, and almost died twice comeing back. The weather forcasted 14mph at 7:00 am and dying down to 9mph at 12:00 noon. Well the first close call was, i was standing and looking for timber, on the cell phone of cource, and i hit a stump with the motor, i fell forward and hit the throttle wide open, catching my self by gripping the steering wheel for dear life, i was able to throttle it back. That was close ! Life jacket went on, then i made the turn to main lake and 6 foot waves were everwhere i looked. They rolled over the bow and it was hard driving to get back to the ramp. It took about 1.5 hours to get back. I was just about crapping all over myself. My boat is only 15' long but she handled it okay and kept me safe. Needless to say the weather forcasters suck, i got home and check it again and it then said 25-30 mph gust. If i had any idea it would have been that bad i would have never ventured that far away. Thank god i made it back. We ended up catching 5 large crappie and i now have a another hot spot to hit when the wind is calmer and the weather is warmer. |

Curtis,
I know what you mean. I was out in it also on Friday. I wasn't quite out as far as you though but the water was real rough. I keep my boat at Bayview so I never really left the rip rap area along 30. I was fishing for Hybrids and I found a couple of schools. I caught about 10 in 45 minutes but then I decided to get off the water. It was miserable.
I'm glad you didn't go overboard. |

| NO ! I quit fishing tourney's, all i end up doing is donating my money to a guide to win. I know i can catch fish and that's enough for me. I'll save the entry money, for gas, looks like it'll be at $3.00 a gallon anytime now. |

| I agree with you C C on your statement. back in the '80s I was fishing tournament allover Texas and never won . I learned my lesson the hard way. maybe some time on the lake our paths will cross . and we can exchange information on the lake. I have been fishing this lake since the mid '70s. my fishing will start after the 15th of April that's when the weather starts making a change and the fish start settling dowand. |

Sure would be nice if our lakes ran East and West vs North and South, and were covered by huge trees to block the wind. |

| Under the I-30 bridge is pretty good if the wind will allow it. You can catch crappie and sandies, and even catfish. Catch shad and use crappie lights and you should do okay. Minnows will work too. |
