Can anyone recommend a good outboard repair shop that does good work and reasonably priced?
Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply Shannon.
I bought a 2001 procraft fish and ski about a month ago and it ran good. It has a 125hp mercury with stainless prop and it ran over 50 mph.
I started noticing that it idled a hair rough and would sometimes die when idling. Then last Saturday when I took it out, it woulld not remain started. It idled real rough and the engine shook hard before it would die. I was still at the ramp on the trailor. I never could get it to remain running.
So I took it out the water and was lost for what the problem could be.
That's when I met one of our fellow forum buddies.
Ranger-1 came over and helped me out. He was very helpful as he pointed out that it sounded like a fuel problem. (as he helped, I found out that he was a registered forum guy too.)
So I replaced the fuel filter and the bulb line. Also replaced spark plugs. I tesred the fuel pump and it is pumping. It runs now but is cutting out when I tested it so I brought it back to the ramp because it was cutting out enough to concern me.
I live near Regency marine and have spent about $2000 dollars fixing a sea ray that I am selling (I needed a shallow bottom boat to get to the fishing hole). They do good work but are a bit expensive. I could not get any advice from them on Friday regarding this matter so I am needing another boat mechanic.
Afriend said it sounded like a pin hole leak in the fuel line some where. So I bought some fuel line to run between the gas tank and the the new bulb line.. I have not installed the new fuel line yet.
If you have any ideas on what it could be, I'd appreciate knowing what you might think it is.
Thanks

If you still need a mechanic, the guys at Area Lakes Marine are great. I've had them work on my boat as well as a couple of friends' boats and everyone has been happy with the work.

They are located on Ray Hubbard at the Fishing Peir, north on the dirt road past the public ramp on the north side of 30 at Dalrock. Give Darrel a call at 214-707-0369. I keep my boat at those storage units there and will just give them the keys to the unit when my boat needs work (once every 2 or 3 years).

Thanks deadweight...appreciate that info. I'm in Rowlett and will be using them next time.

I went ahead and took the boat back to Regency Marine since they are a block away. They had over a week waiting list. Yesterday I found out that I needed a wiring harness, the fuel pump rebuilt, voltage regulator replaced, carburators rebuilt, impellor replaced and ttwo of the cylinders were not getting fire. I can't remember everything else he said.

I'm trying to figure out how on Friday the boat was running good and the next day I had all those problems with it.

At least I know I'll be good to go for awhile. Amazing what $1800 + will do! Shocked Mad
