Well i went fishin today and caught a few blues but nothing big, so i decided to go to the honey hole to catch some channel cats just for fun. It got dark and i had no flash light just my running lights. I got through putting on some danny kings so i rinsed my hands in the water and looked over and saw a snake next to me, so i grabbed my paddle and whacked him. He starts squirming around and looked like he was going to get in the boat, but luckily he finally went away. A couple of minutes later i looked at the transom and saw a head peeking up from it so i grabbed my paddle and pushed it away, and as soon as i turned my head back around he was there again, so i gave him a good whack. Well, he must have had his tail wrapped around the trim motor or something cause when i hit him, he came flying out of the water and in the boat. By this time my legs are flapping like a fish out of water ,surprisingly i didnt fall in. Luckily i still had the paddle and somehow flung it out and back in the water. All this happened in half a second but felt like an eternity. Even though it was just a fish snake, non poisonous, it still scared the s@$T out of me. After that i packed it up and called it a night. Embarassed

A snake in the boat in the dark...that'd give me the chills......

About 6 years ago,I had a water mocassin in the garage and stepped on it one morning about 2 am. I was lucky that the front half was under the storm door I openned when I stepped in the garage. I figured I had stepped on one of the kids shoes but when I turned around to look at what I stepped on it was a fat water mocasssin. I killed it They really stink too. But it scared the hell out of me and for months after that I go out on the 4 wheeler looking for snkes in the grass at night. In my mind they were everywhere outside but I never saw another one outside of the house on my night searches.

2 years ago me and a neighbor killed about 30 snakes in the creek behind the house while they where basking on logs in the creek. Hadn't seen any water mocassins since or any water snakes until just recently I saw a couple.

What are Danny Kings?

Now that's some funny stuff. One reason I stopped shore fishing at night. Can't stand Snakes. My wife put a crooked stick right out side or back door in the garage once. She waited until i walked out then she said watch out. I started high stepping and everybody in the house was dying laughing at me.

Yeah, this was one of those moments you are glad your buddy wasnt with you to laugh at you instead of helping you.

Hey fish hook, danny kings is a punch bait. You usually catch alot of small channel cat on it. i was actually using cj's punch bait cause fishermans supply is out of danny kings. I found some cj's punch bait at the valero at chaha exit, and it seems to be an identical match to d.k. If you use it do not touch the bait, your fingers will smell like you been diggin for gold, and lost your hand and found it a week later. Dont even look at it or your fingers will stink.

Shannon
What did you catch that big cat on?
I just got some big bait casting rod and reels so I can be ready for a big cat when I hook one.

I was at Lake Whitney memorial day weekend and there was a pesky little snake sneaking around our minnow bucket. It was about midnight. We kept scaring it away but it just kept on coming back. Looked like a little water snake.

I actually caught this one off the bank by wynn joyce 32lb. I have an abu-garcia baitcaster with 20lb trilene big game line. medium heavy rod and I was probably using a 6/0 hook, 3oz. weight and 11ft surf rod. Bait was fresh cut gizzard shad. When i filleted him i looked in his stomach and there was an 11 inch sand bass in his stoamach.

yyep......that's a nice one! I caught a 6 pound bass acouple of months ago in Hubbard and was pretty proud of it since I've fished Hubbard off and on for like 25 years and haven't caught much. My 13 year son and I have caught over 100 fish in the past couple of months in Hubbard. Been having a lot of fun. We are planning to do some night fishing the week after next for a couple of nights to see if we can pull in a fish like you got. That's a nice one!

Did it give you much of a fight?
