Welcome to the forum Double O.
Anything over 10mph on Hubbard can get dicey. Keep an eye on the forecast before you go and put in at a ramp that is protected from the wind.
Most of the ski/wake boats hang out on the north side of I-30 just east of Dalrock.

| If your boat is a fiberglass deep v, 20mph or less. I've had my boat in 25-35 by accident and it handled it nicely. But 20mph or less if your going against the wind. Just look at the water, if there is a lot of white caps really steady then don't get on the lake. If they are just every now and then, you would probably be ok. Bayliner boat are normally pretty good in pretty rough water. I go out as long as the weather 0-15 mph. My boat is only 15' and a trihull. |

Try it by yourself b4 you take the family out. Wear a life jacket, Put your phone in a ziplock bag and attach a milk jug to 50ft of rope, attached to the boat (just in case you sink it, you can find the boat) and see what she will do. Keep the phone on you so can call for help if needed. Wear bright colors so you can be found easier. |

Double O---Good advice above----
My 2 cents---Everyone and every business around has a flag---It takes a good breeze to hold a flag out straight. That will give you an indication before you go to the lake. As stated above---If you see white caps on the water--the wind is up and although your boat can handle it--you just won't enjoy it.
Your boat could handle most windy days on the lake but be smart about it. If your out on the lake--watch the skies--if you see clouds coming--head in.
Don't be afraid to pull into a marina and take shelter. If in doubt--go slow.
A good thing about RH is the bridges---You have 2 long bridges with high rip rap so even on a windy day--you can usually find a break.
Unfortunately--in Texas, there aren't many calm days.
Just get out and enjoy--- |
