I'm new to the area and am looking for some help.
Being from the Northwest I know Trout, Salmon, Halibut, Steelhead.
But nothing about Crappie, Bass, & Catfish.
I don't have a boat and am looking for lake access, and any tips you might want to share on catching the above.
I look forward to hearing from everyone.
Thanks,
Doc |

| A way to catch some catfish off the shore is to get some stinkbait blood or liver and go to miller road going acroos the lake and go pass the little land mass to the side just go farthter down a little then through your bait out with a bobber and when the bobber goes down you should catch a couple small ones. |

CRAPPIE
try harbour bay fishing barge december thru april crowded when good though also when guides are cleaning fish at the barge cleaning station you can drop liver down with no wiegt and catch catfish sometimes good ones this happens in the evenings around 5 to 6pm and somtimes around noon ...
also near bayveiw marina from the public boat launch all around cove, but dont get inside the marina grounds its also a good place for spwaning bass in spring and crappie untill june around the cattails...
there are alot of catails around hwy 66 public ramp in rockwall that are good for wading in the spring...
a great spring, summer, fall place is the east 1-30 bridge near rockwall its not easy to get too (thats why it good) its good for sandies ,cats some bass, bream and crappie by the pillars you can reach from shore....
right now with the water release from lavon and the release from hubbard theres a slite current there and the sandies are there daily mostly in the evening along with alot of boats ..best side would be south west corner and heres the hard part the best way to get there would be a motor cycle from dalrock exit down aong railroad to bridge or have some 1 drop you off an pick you up later (dangerous with traffic) rubber shad swim baits or a wieght and a couple crappie jigs tied on for a long cast will work on sandies, worms on bream and shrimp on catfish (liver is better) a good idea is to toss out alittle chum (canned cat food, dog food soured grain ect... and use a cork or cast way oput the rocks go out to about 17ft deep ....good luck |

Thanks for the information.
I tried the west side of 66 by the Shogun resturant. No luck, I thrn went to the West side of 30 North of Bass Pro. I caught a couple of small catfish on stinkbait (chicken & liver).
I'll try again next week. I saw a few people fishing and asked them how they were doing. A couple Crappie using minnows.
Thanks to all for responding!!!! |
