I'm new to both fresh water fishing and Ray Hubbard. On the other hand, I've fished for over fifty-five years -- almost exclusively salt water.

The techniques seem to be translatable.

That might be simply because Ray Hubbard is loaded with fish. They're all over the place. Sandies, Stripers, and Hybrids -- AND, they're all good eating.

Now, my question is: will yesterdays wind scatter the schools of bait? Will the fish take up specific "ambush spots? How do you go about finding same?

Thanks.

the wind typically pushed the bait towards the banks..so look for wind blown banks especially points. This is a typical tip that will work on all lakes.

a guide recently told me that with this cold weather the bait is going into deeper water and a lot of fish will follow especially catfish..
Have you been catching anything lately?

Right now my boat is out of commission -- last Tuesday, I managed to put it on the rocks, and messed up the bottom pretty bad. Yes, it is repairable, yes, it was insured, and yes it's being fixed.

I'd been doing better and better as the season progressed. Having fished power plant outflows before (on Long Island), I was figuring to move there as the water got colder. I also know the lake record for black bass was caught during the winter, so I hope to do some "exploring" during calm winter days.

Hello Tina, welcome to Texas, it sure took you a long time to get here Very Happy (anyway). After the wind blows hard for a couple days or so try the under passes on I 30 both the Garland side and the Rockwall side produce a lot fish. I guess my favorite is the Rockwall side south west side. I have caught a lot of hybrids there as well. If you check out the photo sections of our website OutlawAdventuresTx.com you can actually see a lady holding a hybrid with I 30 bridge in the background. Good luck this winter. When summer rolls around just follw the birds, we'll catch you later
