New to the board!! Just a recap of nada... Fished Saturday from 9-4. Water temp was 52 in the morning and warmed to 56 by 4. Fished from the golf course north of 66 down to creek on west side down by the dam. Creek by the dam, water temp was 56 in two ft of h2o, plenty of gar. Couldn't get bit so changed tactic to chart beetle spin to see if crappie or sandy maybe in the area. Finnaly caught one bass about 10 inches long and glad I did - no skunk. Crying or Very sad I guess I should do like the rest of the boats and run up the river and catch some sandies. Anyone else bass fishing?

I finally picked up my boat friday (was being repaired, and had LOTS of warranty work done to the motor - now runs like it should have originally). Ran it over to the marina. On the way out, I passed two guys fishing on a real pretty bass boat in the marina. in fact they were fishing an area that no one ever seems to fish -- As I stood there talking to them, one picked up a nice fat, healthy 2 - 2 1/2 lb largemouth. Guy said, "you never have to leave the marina, catch them all day"

As nI left, it seemed his buddy had a pick-up. they were finesse fishing, using a small Senko, no weight, light line, light spinning outfit.

Looked like a lot of fun.

Hi Tina
Glad to hear you finally got your boat back.
Thanks for those tips...sounds like a good idea.
Which marina were you in? By the Delta Queen?

Have you been doing any fishing lately?

No fishing lately. Just got the boat back. Now have to set up tackle - new line, pick out rods, fill up tackle boxes, find all the stuff I dragged off the boat -- then get out there.

Yes, the marina near the Texas Queen.

The guys I spoke to seemed to know what they were doing. Very light, deft touch. Played the fish very well on such light tackle, and had the experience to know what was happening at the end of their line.

The entire finesse thing seems to be akin to some light tackle salt water fishing I did when I was younger. Got to crank up the skill level.

Red.

All he told me was - "you can get all the bass you want -- and never leave the marina."

Of course, they had a very deft touch -- far better at this fresh water stuff than I am.

If you know where the office is, they were to the left of that, and to the left of the walkway that leads to the marina proper. One foot in the boat, one foot on the walkway, casting into the area with a fountain. I don't even see folks fishing for Crappie there. By the way, one of the always there fishing for Crappie guys told me he had 8 fish, 5 keepers the day before yesterday. He was using a red crappie jig with a pink crappie nugget -- fishing only one rod - as opposed to the folks who seem to be working four or more.

I did a little casting - too impatient, too eager - zero fish, went home. Got to slow down - or fish for Sand Bass and Hybrids.

yeah, I need to slow down too. I was working along the weed beds over there and some idiot cut into the area I was heading to, about 20 yards in front of me and just anchored. Horrible. Sunday had alot of boats on the water, alot of recreational people out there. First wake board boat was out at around 10:30. Sad.
