Just looking for some advice here. I recently had to sell my bass boat and offhsore center console due to economy. I've got an older 22' pontoon boat that we are starting to fish out of and usually put in at the 66 bridge over in Rockwall. I'd like to run up north from there and fish around the river mouth and flats for bass, crappie and sand bass when they start running. Any words of advice or running up that end of the lake or other places to fish? I've hit a few of the old levees when I had the bass boat with some success. Any tips would be appreciated!

I would just stay to the right side until you get up there close. There are so many people going up there now, I would try to follow someone in there. However I'm not sure if a pontoon boat is going to make it, how shallow can you get into?

I have the same answer, hug the right bank to start (by the golf course). There is a clearing after that but i cant explain where. I followed someone and found out that way. Go slow and eventualy somene with a 2million hp bass boat will come through doing bout 100mph, just follow him if you can keep up.

sounds good. I probably need at least 3' of water to be safe. This while pontoon boat thing is new to me, so I guess we will see! I feel ok getting up the east side up until the powerline cut, just not sure beyond there!

there is a cut to make around the power lines, best idea is to go VERY slow or just follow someone. the two LARGE stumps are normally marked, however some feel like they need to take these markers down from time to time. be careful and have fun, 3ft should be fine!
